During the turn of the year both the Finnish and Chinese branch of Fiellberg have gained new members:


Heikki Kauranne started as a Technology Manager with Fiellberg Oy in January 2019. He is based in the Vantaa Head Office, where he is working on our product development. He is currently focusing on green energy and hybrid tech, specializing on wave power-based applications. Heikki graduated as M.Sc. (Tech) in 1988 and Lic.Sc. (Tech) in 2003, both from Helsinki University of Technology (today part of Aalto University). In 2013 he received a teacher qualification. Since his graduation until the end of 2018 he worked in the aforementioned university, acting as an assistant, a laboratory engineer, a researcher and a university teacher.


During his university career Heikki has participated in numerous research projects, prepared project applications, designed and implemented test installations, conducted large measurement programs, performed in-depth data analyses, and wrote several scientific publications. He has also actively developed hydraulics teaching and written a textbook on the subject. His main interests in the field of hydraulics research have been pumps, electro-hydraulic actuators, and energy-efficient systems.


Meanwhile in China Changbao Qu joined our ranks in late 2018. Responsible for quality assurance and production in FFT, Changbao has worked with mechanical equipment and hydraulics for almost two decades. In addition he has worked as a DNV-trained internal auditor in the past, experience which he will most certainly be using in his new vocation.

Fiellberg Power Module is a digital-hydraulic hybrid device that could potentially result in significant energy savings in common cylinder applications. This product (patent pending) is currently in a proof of concept stage and is undergoing testing in Tampere University of Technology and Aalto University. We expect to see the Power Module ready for marketing by the end of the year, and we would be more than happy to provide more information in the meanwhile. Read more


A district heating tube can be built out of pre-insulated tubes without a bellow balancer or an expansion angle, in case that it has first been checked that the tubing remains without tension at temperature of +70 Celsius degrees. This kind of system is called a fixed system. However, the implementation of the system can be difficult during installation. The excavation needs to be kept open, until the district heating tube is warmed up to the ideal attaching temperature. Maintenance of the temperature causes problems particularly during winter as the temperature of the heating network has to remain on a higher level. Fiellberg Slide Tube brings an alternative and easy solution to the problem. By using the slide tube, the district heating tubing can be built, covered and deployed in the traditional way. When deployed the tube takes its optimal and final position automatically during the thermal expansion.


At the end of February 2018, we achieved a recognised quality milestone. The management system of Fiellberg Oy and Fiellberg Fluid Technologies (Dalian) Co., Ltd. was certified by DNV GL. We are happy to present our brand-new certificate according to ISO 9001:2015. This certificate highlights our excellence in quality!


The year 2017 was a great success at Fiellberg Oy. We have now operated for two years and during our second fiscal year we have managed to triple our sales while keeping good profitability. As we have expanded our cylinder manufacturing, we now have production in three countries: Finland, China and Poland. We want to thank all of our customers and partners for being part of this!
